Consumer Product Safety Commission Announces Recall of Little Tikes Clubhouse Swing Sets

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recently announced a recall for the Little Tikes Clubhouse Swing Set. The company, which is based out of Ohio, has voluntary agreed to the recall and is encouraging their consumers to stop using the product immediately. The product is not defective, in the traditional sense of the word, but with improper assembly the swing set can allow for falling injuries to occur. The Clubhouse Swing Sets do not come with any directions for assembly on one of the swing seats, requiring consumers to figure out assembly on their own. For the most part the assembly does not seem to be difficult, but if one of the swing seats in the set is not assembled properly, the harness will detach the seat from the rest of the set, leading to falling injuries. Consider contacting a San Diego personal injury lawyer if you have been injured by this product. Since very little children typically play on these sets, the consequences could be severe.

For the most part, the swing set can be assembled properly for extended use and play by little children. In fact, the only portion of the product that is being recalled is the blue swing seat. The set also comes equipped with a yellow swing seat, a slide, and even a climbing wall, none of which are being recalled along with the blue swing seat. The Clubhouse Swing Sets were sold at a number of major retailers around the United States between October 2008 and March 2009. The swing sets were manufactured here in the United States.

The recall of the Little Tikes Clubhouse Swing Sets is just one of a number of recalls that has occurred this year. In July there was a clothing distributor that was required to recall over 7,000 hooded children’s sweatshirts because of the risk of strangulation. Those sweatshirts were sold in late 2008. There was also another recall in July in which Brown Shoes Co., based out of St. Louis, recalled over one million clogs for children because of choking hazards. Apparently the clogs were designed to look like cars and decorated with car accessories, such as wheels and other embellishments. The shoes were supposed to mimic characters from the popular children’s movie “Cars.” The wheels and other embellishments on the clogs, however, were able to be easily removed by small children. It is no surprise that this could be hazardous because a child’s first reaction to such an occurrence would often be to place the removable piece in his or her mouth.

If you have a child who has been injured because of a defective toy or any other product used for children, you should contact a product liability lawyer quickly. Los Angeles product liability lawyers have expertise in cases where injuries have occurred because of defective products. It is the responsibility of companies to ensure that the products they sell to consumers will be safe, especially when those products are being made for children. If you purchased defective products for your child that caused him or her injury, a personal injury lawyer can help you reach a settlement.

How Various iPod Car Adapters Work

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

If your car still has a cassette or CD player, you may be wondering how to listen to your MP3 player while driving.  iPod car adapters allow you to listen to all of your favorite tunes, no matter where you go.  No more lost radio stations and commercial interruptions!  This article will explain some of the options available to you, so that you can choose what suits your needs and budget best.

Be aware that some offer better sound quality than others, but do cost a little more.  Some are also more difficult to install, so you will want to consider whether you want to pay someone to do it for you.

Cassette iPod car adapters are the simplest and least costly option.  By plugging the mini-jack cord from your iPod into the cassette, you just pop the cassette into the tape player of your car.  Pretty simple.  However, you may experience interference from strong FM radio stations in the area.

FM transmitters are another option.  You can find these available in two varieties, wired and wireless.  The wired option uses the antenna input from your car, and provides a better sound quality. These are also more difficult to install, so unless you have the technical knowledge you may want to pay someone to do it for you.  Wireless FM modulators let you use the radio in your car.  You simply set the modulator to a station that has no broadcasting, then tune in to that station to listen to your music on the factory installed radio.

There are also kits available that will connect either to the stereo that came in your car, or one that you installed later.  With these iPod car adapter kits, you need to remove the stereo head unit from the dashboard, then connect a cable and adapter to the CD changer port.  Once that is done, another cable connects the adapter to your iPod.

If you have an aftermarket stereo installed in your vehicle, you may choose a direct to stereo method that requires connecting a wire from your iPod headphone jack to the stereo’s input jack.  If you do decide to go this route, you will need a cigarette lighter power adapter as this option does not keep your iPod charged.

Whichever method you choose, you can now take your favorite tunes everywhere you go with ease!  iPod car adapters help make any drive much more enjoyable.
